On the doorstep of Mount Field National Park, and with the Tyenna River (trout fishermen's heaven) running alongside, is this lovely parcel of land (approx. 6210m2 or over an acre). The old house has been removed but Mains Water, Power and Phone connections are still on site. There are also a couple of the original outbuildings including a sheep shelter, a storage shed/barn, and a chook house.
The old apple orchard is still there and an irrigation system is in place for stock troughs and vegetable beds. So all you need to do is build your dream retreat (STCA), plant your veggies, bring in a few chickens and dust off the fishing rod. If you're not into fishing, just standing on the banks of the river in the shade of the willows and watching platypus play is not a bad way to spend some time.
If you like a bit of activity in your life, there are spectacular walks through the Temperate forests of the National Park past magnificent waterfalls; alpine walks around Lake Dobson; skiing at the Mount Mawson snow fields; abseiling at the Gordon River Dam and so much more!! There is a railway reserve behind this property that is no longer in use but you can hire rail carts at nearby Maydena and explore the line.
The village of Westerway is only a few minutes drive away and has a general store, a great caf and a Primary School. The large township of New Norfolk is approx. 30 minutes drive and Hobart about an hour away.
